VHF Radio replacement
We were successful in receiving funding to replace our old analogue VHF Base radios and install a repeater system at Kai-iwi beach
Communication and innovation is the most important element to providing a successful lifesaving service and saving lives.
Upgrading our base radios and expanding our coverage with the repeater is the last phase to upgrade to the digital network provided by SLSNZ, the digital network greatly enhances and secures our network to help our lifeguards save lives.
Air Compressors
In 2020 McDonald Equipment Trade Zone donated two air compressors to help inflate our rescue boats quickly and maintain our trailer tyres. Beforehand we only used foot pumps.
Binoculars
In 2020 Hunting and Fishing donated two Leuopold Binoculars, one for each beach.
Off road Rescue Vehicles
In 2019 we were seeking funding of $35,600 towards two Can-am Defender Rescue Vehicles.
These ATVs are designed for New Zealand conditions and used by surf lifesaving clubs across New Zealand and Australia. They will be kitted with the required features to ensure lifeguards, legality, and safety, provide immediate rescue equipment including our Rescue Inflatable Boats (IRBs) as well as first aid equipment to those in need.
We were successful in receiving the initial from Four Regions Trust and with the additional support of the following local businesses we were able to deploy these vehicles on our beaches.
