WSLS operates both voluntary and paid lifeguard services throughout the summer period. With over 40 qaulified Surf Lifeguards from an array of backgrounds, we're well equipped to provide a high quality patrol service to beach visitors. Whether it's from the beach, from an IRB or up in the tower, our team are prepared to respond to any situation.

Sometimes our teams are utilised at events on the awa too - a true reflection of how dynamic our Surf Lifeguards are.

Patrol Support is the perfect way to play a vital lifeguarding role without getting in the water! It's also a fantastic stepping stone for anyone aspiring to become a fully qualified surf lifeguard, especially if you're still working on meeting the SLSNZ swimming requirements.

Patrol Support train alongside trainee lifeguards to learn aspects of lifeguarding including first aid, setting up an IRB and patrolling on the beach.

In addition to standard Surf Lifeguard operations, WSLS has a Search and Rescue Squad (SARs) which operates 24/7 365 days outside of standard patrol hours and responds to a large variety of search & rescue operations.

SARs members are all qualified lifeguards and come from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets.

Our SAR response is activated by Police, in coordination with SLSNZ's SurfComm centre.

Beach Education programmes are popular amongst our community and can be tailored for any audience. These programmes cover how to stay safe at the beach, what risks & hazards to look out for and to understand how our Surf Lifeguards operate.

Our Surf Lifeguards love sharing their passion for beach safety with schools, workplaces, education providers and the likes.
