Join the Wanganui Surf Lifeguard Services Whanau!

We welcome new members to join WSLS. 

Whether you're wanting to get involved on the beaches in a patrol capacity, get your kids involved in our Junior Surf programme or you're one to support us behind the scenes, there's a membersip option for everyone. 

General Membership

As a 'General Member', you'll join the WSLS whanau as a full member as an individual...

• Have voting rights at the AGM (if you're under 16, you'll need to have a parent/guardian with you)
• Can stand as an executive board member or apply to hold operational portfolios (16yr plus). 
• Apply to join in an operational capacity (Lifeguard, Patrol Support or SAR role).
• Have access to loan equipment (Boards etc).
• Represent WSLS at Surf Sport Events
• Participate in the Junior Surf Programme (as an individual, not part of a family group).

Note: If you've got multiple members in your family to sign up, the Family Membership is the way to go - check this out below. 

General Membership is set at $50.00 per person for the 2025/26 season.

Family membership

Under this membership, you'll create a 'family membership profile' with WSLS - it's the simplest way to manage your family within our membership system. 

By having a Family Membership, you'll be able to manage an entire group of people within the one account, this means one log in, one renewal payment etc - versus multiple individual accounts to manage. 

We have introduced this offer this year, as it's been highly sought after by our families. 

You'll need a Surf Lifesaving NZ Member Number too... 

If you or your child is going to participate in sport events (pool rescue, carnivals etc), youll need to  have a Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) Member Number - these are generated by clicking here.

Current members can update their SLSNZ Member number from previous emails or from logging into the SLSNZ website here.
